Rivers State Commissioner for Power kidnapped


Reports from an online news medium, Citizens Platform says the Rivers State Commissioner for Power Hon. Nwokocha Augustin has been kidnapped alongside his Personal Assistant.

The Commissioner was said to have been kidnapped in Ede, Onelga Local Government of Rivers State around 8:30pm Sunday. 

Citizens Platform claims that a source who spoke to it on condition of anonymity said the Commissioner was pulled out of his land cruiser Jeep and was  taken away along with his aide Samson.

As at the time of filling this story, the Commissioner’s family is yet to be contacted, the source was also quoted as saying that Nwokocha’s  jeep was abandoned.

Hon. Nwokocha has been the Rivers State Commissioner for Power since April 2008. He formerly represented ONELGA Constituency 1 in the Rivers State House of Assembly between 2003 to 2007 and was the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Petitions and Compliance in that period.
