"Indigeneship Factor fuels crisis and insecurity in Nigeria" - Governor Shema

The Governor of Katsina State, North West Nigeria, Ibrahim Shehu Shema has described the indigeneship factor in the country as divisive and contrary to the peace and unity which majority of Nigerians preach and desire.
He stated this when the Director General, National Orientation Agency, Mike Omeri paid him a courtesy visit in government house, Katsina.

Governor Shema said the situation whereby people are described as non-indigenes because they live in areas outside of their state of origin has contributed to the growing sense of insecurity which is promoting disunity and violence.
He said his administration in Katsina State rather considers such people as "indigenous Nigerians living in Katsina" and has integrated them into the scheme of things in the State without discrimination.
Governor Shema called on other States of the Federation to adopt the same approach which, he said, has helped maintain peace, security and stability in the State.
Earlier, the NOA Director General expressed delight that despite the non-availability of crude oil in the State, the Government had harnessed available funds and resources to impact positively on the lives of its people.
The visit is part of a two day forum captioned; security challenges and peace building in Nigeria organized by the NOA in Katsina.
