Over 3,000 Persons Sign Tobacco Control Petition

Over 3,000 persons have in the month of November 2013 appended their signatures to the current campaign outlining a petition seeking to promote the enactment of a Tobacco Control Bill in Nigeria.
Prominent amongst these persons are the Tobacco Control Celebrity Cause Champions (CCCs), Fela Durotoye, Stella Damasus & Atom Lim who have continued to support the cause and affirm their belief in a smoke-free Nigeria.
Other cause champions have also signed the petition on a web page opened for that purpose
This is all part of the Tobacco Control Nigeria project which is a policy change and public health campaign project using Social Media to advance tobacco control and support the passage of a comprehensive domestic Tobacco Control (TC) law compliant with the World Health Organization’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), to which Nigeria is a signatory.
In a Press Release issued by the NGO, Social Responsibility Managers (SRM), they solicited the support of all Nigerians to append their signatures as the fight continues to significantly reduce the smoking prevalence in the country.
The petition enters its final week and more individuals are still appending their signatures.
