President Jonathan Presents Ministerial List to Senate

President Goodluck Jonathan has submitted the list of ministerial nominees to the Senate for confirmation on Tuesday before jetting out to Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting.

NERC Chairman Sam Amadi Buries Father




The sleepy town of Imierienwe in Ngor-Okpala local government Area, Imo state was on Saturday 11th January 2014 abuzz as dignitaries gathered to pay their last respect to late Pa Silas Ihekworobiri Amadi father of the Chairman of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission NERC Dr. Sam Amadi who transited to glory on the 21st of December 2013 aged 84.


Openly Gay Nigerian, Bisi Alimi Speaks on CNN

Following the passage of an anti gay law in Nigeria which prescribes fourteen year jail term for offenders, reactions have continued to trail the new law which though generally accepted by Nigerians has been condemned by countries in the Western Hemisphere.

Bisi Alimi the first Nigerian man to openly declare he was gay on TV was on CNN to talk about his experience and the Nigerian anti-gay law.

BBC's Kumla Dumor is Dead

In what can be termed as my biggest shock of 2014, the sudden death of Kumla Dumor, one of Africa's finest journalists is one that cannot be forgotten in a hurry.

The BBC reports that he died suddenly at his home in London at the age of 41.
 

Ghana-born Dumor was a presenter for BBC World News and its Focus on Africa programme.

One of Ghana's best-known journalists, he joined the BBC as a radio broadcaster in 2007 after a decade of journalism in Ghana.

Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama said on Twitter that his country had lost one of its finest ambassadors.
