NLC Calls on FRSC to Fish out Hit and Run Driver that Killed Dimgba Igwe

The Nigeria Labour Congress NLC has called on the Federal Road Safety Commission to investigate, apprehend and prosecute the driver of the vehicle that allegedly ran down Dimgba Igwe, Vice Chairman of the Sun Publishing Company.

It would be recalled that the late Igwe was knocked down by a hit and run driver while jogging around 10 am Saturday at the neighbourhood of his Okota residence.

A statement signed by the General Secretary of NLC, Peter Ozo-Eson said once drivers who derive joy in reckless driving get to know they could end up in jail, accidents such as this will be reduced.

The statement described the late Igwe as until his death, a versatile columnist whose writings have contributed immensely to shaping thoughts, contemporary political discourse, and progressive journalism in Nigeria.

It condoled with Mr. Igwe's family, the Sun Publishing Company, the Nigeria Guild of Editors and indeed, the entire media community in Nigeria in the collective agony his death has brought to all.
