The Ohaneze Youth Forum, a pan Igbo socio-political group with the sole aim of promoting Igbo interest and harmonious existence with other peoples of Nigeria has condemned the recent threats on Igbos by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu.
Oba Akiolu while in a meeting with Igbo traditional rulers resident in Lagos, vowed that Igbos will be drowned in the lagoon if they vote for Jimi Agbaje of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
A statement signed by one Ichie Akuazaoku said the group reorganizes the right of the Oba to reign in his domain and exercise authority over his Yoruba subjects but reminded him that Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians as provided by the 1999 Constitution.

BEING A PRESS STATEMENT OF THE OHANEZE YOUTH FORUM ON THE THREAT TO NDI IGBO AND OTHER NIGERIANS BY OBA OF LAGOS, HIS HIGHNESS OBA RILWAN AKIOLU.
We are members of Ohaneze Youth Forum, a pan igbo socio-political group with the sole aim of promoting igbo interest and harmonious existence with other peoples of Nigeria.
We would like to use this medium to condemn the threat by the Oba of Lagos as wildly circulated by conventional media and which has gone viral online.
While we reorganize the right of Oba to reign in his domain and exercise authority over his Yoruba subjects we make hast to remind him that Nigeria belongs to all of us as provided by the 1999 Constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria and Lagos was once the Capital of Nigeria, which was developed with tax payers money from all parts of Nigeria.
We as Nigerians feel scandalized that an Oba who could not reach consensus among his warring children wil have the temerity to threaten any other tribe particularly ndi igbo. If he had kept his house in order, we would not have any choice to make but Nigeria is democratic entity and not a monarchy with unquestionable line of inheritance.
Ndi Igbo have toiled to develop Lagos, paying their multiple taxes and we feel it is not much to ask that we participate in choosing between two Yoruba “warring” sons whom we think will serve our interest better.
We wish to remind the Oba that we will hold him personally responsible should any igbo man in Lagos dies on Saturday or a week after the election.
We further call on Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola the Chief Security Officer of Lagos state to make sure no igbo man is molested, attacked, prevented from voting or intimidated during and after the April 11th Governorship election in Lagos. All markets owned and managed by ndi igbo should go up in flames
We call on our igbo Brothers and Sisters to be vigilant, law abiding, go about their civic duties with utmost patriotism.
Report any Area boy attempting to intimidate you to the nearest police station.
Umu nnem, you have the right to vote any Party of your choice.
Long live ndi igbo!!!
