Fuel Scarcity: Senates Issues Two Week Ultimatum to Petroleum Minister


The Senate has issued a two weeks ultimatum to the ministry of petroleum resources to end the recurring fuel scarcity in the country and put to a stop the various corrupt practices associated with the distribution of petroleum products.

The chairperson, Senate committee on petroleum, downstream, Senator Uche Ekwunife issued the directive Thursday at an investigative hearing with officials of Nigeria National petroleum Corporation NNPC, Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency PPPRA, Pipelines and products marketing company PPMC and the Petroleum ministry.While lamenting the escalating price of fuel in parts of the country which has risen as high as three hundred Naira per litre, Ekwunife said the aim of subsidy has been defeated as the regulatory agencies involved in the distribution of petroleum products have failed to live up to expectations.
