Following reports of violence witnessed in Saturday’s Bayelsa supplementary governorship election, Senate President, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki on Sunday, 10th January has not only condemned it, but has said that the perpetrators must be brought to book.
Tweeting via his handle, @Bukolasaraki, the Senate President said that irrespective of party affiliation everyone must stand against violence.
While stating that the violence that trailed the supplementary elections is "Totally Unacceptable", Saraki maintained that the Police must charge the perpetrators to court.
"Reports of violence that trailed the supplementary election in Bayelsa is totally unacceptable. Perpetrators must be held accountable.
"Regardless of what political party we belong, we must all stand against the violence, @PoliceNG must charge the perpetrators to court.
"I commiserate with those that lost a loved one and also commiserate with law enforcement officers who were affected in the violence in Bayelsa.
"Regardless of what party you support. Your blood/life is not worth any political ambition. Support law enforcement to apprehend perpetrators, "he added.
