This guy, Theophilus Afelokai, Enyimba's goalkeeper is the reason I'm not agonising this morning.
Going into the second leg of the last preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League against Etoile Du Sahel in Sousse, Tunisia, it seemed Enyimba's 3-0 first leg victory in Port Harcourt was enough to get them through to the group stage, but we all know the North Africans and their antics when it comes to hosting games of this nature.
And I was not surprised when they started playing their off the pitch games in a bid to intimidate Enyimba prior to the game on Wednesday night.
However, Enyimba's no-show on match day-collapsing like a pack of cards and throwing away a 3-0 victory in regulation time spoke volumes of the determination of the Tunisians to win the game, by all means possible.
Going into penalty shoot out, my courage failed me, I didn't in any way see Enyimba leaving Sousse with anything greater than a place in the CAF confederation cup, where teams who drop out at this stage head to.
But alas God was behind the People's Elephant, goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokai saved three penalty kicks, sending the two time Champions into the group stage on a 4-3 score line after both side took seven kicks each.
Glory be to God for this hard fought victory, it's now back to the drawing board for coach Paul Aigbogun to make the necessary technical upgrades to the team, as the group stage is not expected to be a tea party.
