Senator Mao Ohuabunwa accuses former Abia State governor Orji Uzor Kalu of trying to "buy" the Judiciary

Senator Mao Ohuabunwa has alerted Nigerians on an alleged plot by former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu to buy over the Judiciary in a bid to get judgement in the appeal court for the position of Senator representing Abia North.

It would be recalled that Ohuabunwa, a senatorial candidate of the People's Democratic Party PDP had on March 6 2016 won a rerun election against Uzor Kalu who ran for the position on the platform of the Progressive People's Alliance PPA after an appeal court judgement nullified the 2015 election.

Speaking to newsmen before plenary on Wednesday Senator Ohuabunwa said the former Abia State governor had boasted that he was going to ensure that his favourite judges are nominated to preside over the appeal court judgement.

Ohuabunwa added that he will petition the National Judicial Commission NJC and other relevant organisations if that happens.

While expressing confidence in the Judiciary, especially the election petition Tribunal which upheld his rerun election on the 15th of September 2016, Senator Ohuabunwa said the former Abia State governor is now desperate to upturn justice through mischief.
