CBN Gov’s wife had four armed police men during her kidnap


Following the rescue of the wife of the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mrs Margaret Emefiele, from her abductors, Sunday Vanguard reports that the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, ordered the deployment of the ATR 42 maritime surveillance aircraft to comb the creeks of Edo and Delta states in search of the kidnappers.


Also, the Commander of the 61 NAF Detachment Station, Warri, Air Commodore Sani Zakari, was said to have been directed to relocate to Warri, to coordinate the airforce personnel in the search and eventual rescue of Mrs Emefiele. Aside the airforce, operatives of the Defence Intelligence agency (DIA), DSS and the police, led by the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, Ibrahim Zanna, moved to the suspected location of the rescued victim after the abductors were tracked by security systems. Security sources told Sunday Vanguard that Mrs. Emefiele, abducted three days ago at Uvbe along Benin-Agbor Road, was rescued between 1 and 2 am, yesterday, at Ugolekii in Edo State after security forces stormed the den of the abductors. The CBN Governor, yesterday, expressed gratitude to God, President Muhammadu Buhari and security agencies for the rescue of his wife. In a statement in Abuja, Emefiele thanked God for the rescue and praised security agencies for their gallantry. Mrs. Emefiele had been kidnapped by the armed men on Friday, at Ugoneki along Benin – Agbor express road. Sunday Vanguard gathered that she had four armed police men with her as the kidnappers ambushed them.
