Dino Melaye Slams N5 Billion Libel Suit Against Sahara Reporters

Chairman Senate Committee on FCT, Senator Dino Melaye has filed a five billion Naira libel suit against online newspaper, Sahara Reporters accusing it of blackmail and violation of his fundamental human rights through one of its publications which alleged that he did not graduate from Ahmadu Bello University ABU as claimed.

Speaking to newsmen at the FCT High Court where the case was instituted, Melaye said the case will serve as a precedence to tackle other instances where dubious media organizations write false and malicious stories against Nigerians in order to rubbish their image or extort money from them.

While describing Sahara reporters as an organization running an underground online media business specifically for criminal purposes, Senator Melaye vowed to pursue the case to its logical conclusion.

Senator Melaye was accompanied to the FCT High Court by his team of lawyers, personal aides and a few supporters.
