Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu has raised alarm over what he described as a plot by the Federal Government, using the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, local and international media to remove him from office and rubbish his political career with a false allegation of corruption.
Ekweremadu made the revelation during plenary on Wednesday through a letter which he claimed was written to him by an anonymous Nigerian who he said was part of the plot.
Reading further from the letter, he said the arrangement which was planned to take place on the 6th and 7th of May includes a search on a pre-arranged building in Enugu which the commission will claim to be his own where foreign currencies and other indicting documents will be planted and displayed for the media.
The Deputy Senate President said the outcome of the plot as contained in the letter is that he will be detained by the EFCC for atleast three weeks after which sponsored nongovernmental organizations and youth from Enugu state will protest in Lagos and Abuja, demanding his recall based on the spurious allegations.
Senate President Bukola Saraki assured that the issue had been noted but failed to make any further comments on the matter.
